Privacy overview

AnyPane is developed by Aime Tech Media Limited. This overview describes how the current app handles data on your device, connections you initiate, and messages you send to support.

Data on your device

AnyPane saves connection settings, workspace layouts and SSH host-trust records locally. These settings can include server addresses and usernames. Passwords, private keys and passphrases are stored separately in the system Keychain, not ordinary configuration files. The app disables Keychain synchronization for these items. Access protection is provided by the system Keychain and varies with platform and device settings.

Connections you initiate

AnyPane sends authentication and session traffic to servers you configure, including any jump host or tunnel target. Those servers and their operators may process or log your activity under their own policies. SSH encrypts its transport; direct VNC does not provide encrypted transport in AnyPane. Use VNC over SSH where possible.

Developer collection

AnyPane 1.0.0 has no analytics integration. Starting with version 1.1.0, basic usage analytics is enabled by default and can be turned off with the Share Basic Usage Analytics switch in About & Help. AnyPane has no developer-operated account service or advertising SDK. Platform services and servers you choose may process data independently.

Optional usage analytics

In version 1.1.0 and later, we use PostHog in the United States to understand feature adoption and connection reliability. Events include a random installation identifier, app version/build, platform and device class, major OS version, protocol/route categories, connection outcomes, predefined error categories, timing measurements, and bounded workspace or pane counts. The identifier links events from one installation; this is not a claim of complete anonymity. We do not link installations across devices or use these events for advertising or cross-app tracking.

Analytics never includes server addresses, usernames, connection or workspace names, credentials, SSH fingerprints, terminal commands or output, remote screen images, keystrokes, clipboard contents, or raw error messages. There is no session recording or automatic click capture. We request that PostHog disable IP-based location enrichment; network providers still necessarily receive connection metadata such as the source IP when serving requests.

Pending events are held in a bounded memory queue, not saved to disk. Turning analytics off stops collection, clears pending events and the local analytics identifier, and cancels pending uploads. A request already received cannot be recalled. Previously received events are not automatically deleted by this switch and remain subject to the service's configured retention. Turning analytics back on creates a new identifier. Contact support@anypane.app with privacy or deletion questions; do not include server details or credentials.

Apple services and diagnostics

Apple may process App Store transactions and platform diagnostics under its own policies and your device settings. If you opt to share diagnostics with developers through Apple, crash or diagnostic reports may be made available to us. This is separate from an app-integrated analytics service.

Support messages

If you choose to contact support, your email address and the contents you send will be processed by the support mailbox provider and publisher to handle your request. Do not send credentials or unredacted session data. The support address is support@anypane.app.

This website

These static pages contain no analytics scripts, tracking pixels, forms, external fonts or application cookies. When the site is hosted, the hosting provider may process IP addresses and request metadata to serve and protect it. This site is hosted by Cloudflare.

Your controls

You can remove connection configurations and credentials within the app. Removing a pane only changes the workspace view; it does not delete a saved connection or disconnect a session. Deleting local settings does not remove logs held by a remote server or messages already sent to support. Do not rely on uninstalling the app alone to erase Keychain entries.
